What tpe of schooling do you have to become a nurse?
1. Earn a high school diploma or equivalent. Some nursing programs require applicants to have a minimum GPA or to have completed certain science and math courses.
2. Complete an accredited nursing program. There are several types of nursing programs available, including:
* Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) programs typically take two years to complete and prepare you to sit for the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN).
* Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) programs typically take four years to complete and provide you with a more comprehensive education in nursing. Some BSN programs also offer accelerated options for students who already have a bachelor's degree in another field.
* Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) programs typically take two years to complete and prepare you for advanced practice nursing roles, such as nurse practitioner, clinical nurse specialist, or nurse anesthetist.
3. Pass the NCLEX-RN. The NCLEX-RN is a standardized exam that all nursing graduates must pass in order to become licensed as RNs.
4. Obtain your nursing license. Once you have passed the NCLEX-RN, you will need to apply for a nursing license in the state where you plan to practice.
After you have obtained your nursing license, you may choose to pursue additional education or training to specialize in a particular area of nursing, such as pediatrics, oncology, or critical care.
