What are the criteria for a Nurse Case Manager Certification?
To earn the Certified Nurse Case Manager (RN-CM®) credential, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Active/Unrestricted RN License: Have an active, unrestricted RN license in good standing in at least one state or territory of the United States or Canada.
- Education: Have a bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) or a master’s degree in nursing (MSN) with a concentration in case management*.
- Experience: Provide documentation of at least 2,000 hours of case management practice within the last 5 years**.
*Applicants who have a bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) will be required to complete 20 hours of continuing education (CE) related to case management within 2 years of earning the RN-CM. Applicants who possess an MSN with a concentration in case management are not required to complete the additional 20 hours of continuing education.
**Applicants must upload a case log within the application to verify the qualifying experience.
