Here are the requirements for a midwife in the United States: Most midwives in the United States hold a master's of science in nursing degree. To meet the requirements for a master's of science in nursing degree program, someone must first be a licensed and registered nurse. RNs may have an associate's degree, a baccalaureate degree, or a diploma from a nursing program approved by the state board of nursing.
