How to Move a Disabled Person from a Chair to a Bed

Ask the disabled person what she needs. She will know better than you how you can help her from her chair, no matter how many people you have moved before. You may need to adjust the methods slightly to accommodate certain people, and she will be the only one who can tell you this.

Test yourself before you try to move him to the bed. See how much of his weight you will be required to hold, and how much he can assist you in moving himself.

Scoot her forward in the chair, and pull her toward you, using a sheet, belt or her pants (if they are sturdy enough). Hug her tight, and keep her close to your body as you transfer her to her bed.

Have him hold tight to your back or shoulders, and pivot toward the bed. Do not let him pull on your neck, as this can result in an injury to yourself.

Help her sit on the bed. Once sitting, assist her in laying down comfortably.
