Anger Management Programs for Children
People learn to express anger at an early age by observing the way it's expressed around them. Some people grow up believing that displaying anger directly is inappropriate. This can cause it to build up over time and lead to indirect or destructive outbursts. Children can be most susceptible to the inability to express anger in a constructive way. However, anger management programs tailored toward children can help alleviate problems early on.-
New York Marriage and Family Therapy
-
The New York Marriage and Family Therapy center conducts an anger management program for children that helps them recognize and dilute their feelings of anger. The program focuses on teaching kids to recognize when and how they become angry, how they feel when they display their anger, and what they can do to control it. Based on their age, children are taught specific exercises in an entertaining and comfortable environment. By the time they complete the program, the children can examine complex feelings of anger in a simplistic way, which helps them understand how to control their emotions through the exercises learned. These methods also help develop their self-esteem.
