How Do I Tell If He Is Nervous?

Nervousness can be brought on by situations in which a person feels stressed, such as a job interview, a first date or an important quiz in school. Many signs of nervousness are difficult to notice in someone else, because they're internal; these include back pain, neck pain and elevated heartbeat. However, if you're wondering if someone is nervous, there are external signs that you can keep an eye out for.

Instructions

    • 1

Watch for any fidgeting or moving around unnecessarily. He may play with his fingers or hair, tap his foot, rock back and forth or chew on his nails or lip.

    • 2

Notice if he appears to be sweating when the temperature and activity level don't call for it.

    • 3

Watch to see how much he is drinking. If he keeps going back for more water, he may have a dry mouth. He may also swallow continually and look uncomfortable.

    • 4

Pay attention to the conversation and what he's asking you. If he repeats himself or acts confused, he may be nervous. Poor memory and being unable to concentrate are symptoms of nervousness.
