Anxiety Burnout Symptoms

Anxiety is a normal feeling when you are facing unusually stressful situations. The body responds to these situations by gearing up for attack. When the body is constantly in these situations, anxiety disorders may be the result. The physical symptoms can be frightening.
  1. Heart Palpitations

    • Heart palpitations occur when the heartbeat is increased during an anxiety attack. This symptom can terrify someone experiencing their first anxiety attack. Heart palpitations may also occur with a feeling of chest tightness.

    Sweating

    • Along with heart palpitations, some of those with anxiety disorders experience sweating during an attack. Some patients with anxiety visit the doctor with physical symptoms before doctors are able to diagnose a panic disorder. Many people are familiar with sweaty palms when experiencing anxiety before public speaking, for instance. Panic attacks produce the same symptoms in patients with anxiety disorders.

    Muscle Pain

    • Chronic tension in the body from anxiety can lead to muscle pain. Like many of the physical symptoms of anxiety, muscle pains are difficult to diagnose as a sign of an anxiety disorder. When there is not a physical cause for muscle pain, doctors may explore disorders such as anxiety.

    Dizziness

    • During a panic attack, dizziness may occur. Dizziness is the feeling that you may pass out. It is sometimes described as lightheadedness. Vertigo is a feeling that the room is moving while you remain still. This is often confused with dizziness.

    Stomach Pain

    • Abdominal discomfort such as cramping or pain may be a symptom of anxiety. Some patients also suffer from diarrhea or nausea. This symptom can be normal when faced with a stressful situation such as a job interview.

    Headache

    • Tension headache can be an indication of stress or anxiety. Headaches may be a sign of an impending panic attack.

    Insomnia

    • Patients with anxiety may have difficulty sleeping. A patient may be awakened in the night by symptoms of panic attack. Insomnia robs a patient of rest and can cause health to deteriorate.
