How to Gracefully Grow Older

When something ages, it ripens, and the ripening process is one more stage in this beautiful journey of life. Aging gracefully requires creative thinking to find new ways to enjoy the journey. Count your aging signs as blessings because they mean that you are still alive. You can whine about getting older, or you can accept that you are like a fine bottle of wine that is improving with age.

Instructions

Try out a stylish new haircut that accentuates the gray. Add a fashionable hat or trendy ball cap to your wardrobe if your hair is thinning. Getting a haircut or new hat can make you look and feel younger.

    • 2

Purchase some dollar-store magnifiers if your eyes need a helping hand. Vanity can be a barrier between you and that first pair of reading glasses, but stores carry a wide variety of youthful, fun and colorful frames. Begin collecting magnifiers to use as wardrobe accessories.

    • 3

Exercise to avoid gaining weight. Invite some friends and go for a long walk and, since laughing burns additional calories, be sure to invite your funniest friends. Join a gym or just put some effort into some social activity, like ballroom dancing.

Remind yourself daily to accept that growing older means subtle changes to your body. These changes can either stress you out or you can smile and say, "I am still living!"

Keep a Gracefully Growing Older journal. Write down your fears and anxieties about growing older. Read through them often, checking to make sure that you are taking appropriate steps to work through them.
