The medical term for constant anxiety disorder is generalized anxiety disorder (GAD). According to the American Psychiatric Association, anxiety is the most prevalent type of mental health disorder. Generalized anxiety disorder may also cause physical symptoms. These symptoms include fatigue, restlessness, headaches, muscle aches, muscle tension, difficulty swallowing, trembling, irritability, insomnia, nausea, diarrhea, difficulty breathing and a fast heartbeat.

Some individuals with constant anxiety may benefit from lifestyle modifications. If anxiety partly stems from worries about overall health, eating a healthy diet and exercising regularly may help to alleviate some symptoms. Also, it is helpful for individuals with constant anxiety to find some sort of relaxation technique, such as yoga or breathing exercises.

Treatment

Generalized anxiety disorder usually requires treatment with both medication and therapy. Medications may include antidepressants, anti-anxiety medications and sedatives. GAD is usually a lifelong condition that will require long-term treatment.
