1
Stop moving. Adrenaline rushes are often associated with athletic activities, many of them involving extreme physical movement. To subdue an adrenaline rush, stop the activity you are involved in.
-
2
Practice deep breathing in order to calm yourself. If you find yourself trying to calm down, you can take a few minutes to practice deep breathing techniques. Inhale deeply and blow out each breath slowly.
-
3
Consider meditation to calm an adrenaline rush. Combine deep breathing with imagining peaceful imagery as a way to relax.
-
4
Focus on another activity. You can also frequently subdue an adrenaline rush by refocusing your energy on another task. You may find distraction in television, music or books.
-
5
Take a cool shower. Hopping in a cold or lukewarm shower can help subdue the anxiety that you may feel during an adrenaline rush.
-
6
Give it some time. Adrenaline rushes will usually pass on their own naturally if you are unable to subdue it with any of the above relaxation techniques.
