Determine the source of your fear. People may be fearful of doctors because of a childhood trauma with a doctor, or they may be fearful that the doctor may have something negative to say about their health. Pinpointing where your fear started can help you focus on how to overcome it.

Use visualization to help overcome your fear. When you think about the doctor and the fear begins to creep up, replay good memories in your mind or visualize a place that makes you happy. Use this whenever you become anxious about the doctor.

Visit a hypnotist to help overcome this fear. When you are hypnotized, your subconscious, which controls how you respond to things, is open to suggestions, which can help change your reaction to seeing a doctor.

Find a support group. Support groups give you a chance to talk to others with the same fear and can offer ideas and suggestions on how to overcome your fear.

See a therapist who is trained to help people overcome fears. Therapy is individualized according to the person and what the therapist feels is the best course of treatment for you.
