How to Help Someone Heal Emotionally
Knowing what to do or say to a person who is emotionally hurt can be difficult because you aren't sure what you could say to help the person overcome his hardships. You may feel like you can't help him or that you will say something to make him feel worse. A person who is going through a challenging emotional time needs to be nourished and cared for, much like you would care for a child who is injured.Instructions

1
Let the person know you care. When someone is going through an emotionally challenging time, he will need to know he is loved and that someone is concerned about him.
-
2
Provide him with support by being around for him. Let him know that you are there for him to talk to. People who are suffering emotionally feel alone.
-
3
Avoid telling the person how he should be feeling or what he should be doing, especially if that person is grieving. While there are stages in grieving (denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance), there isn't one correct way to feel when a loved one is lost.

4
Tell the person you love him. Hearing these words is important, especially during difficult times. You can also show him your love by giving him a small gift.
-
5
Let the person know you are there for him if he needs you in the future. This ongoing support is important to a person who needs it. Healing takes times so providing long-term support will go a long way to helping him heal emotionally.
