Organize your life by writing out a schedule for each day on a portable pad of paper. Consult it frequently, making notes as you fulfill your goals and accomplish tasks. Keep the pad of paper handy at all times. Never set it down unless it's to put it into your pocket.

Settle into a routine. Go to sleep and wake up at the same time each day. Structure your sleeping habits to ensure you get at least eight hours of sleep each day. Create a morning, afternoon and night routine that works for you. Repeat it every day.

Write the routine on your pad until it becomes second nature. Lay out your clothing for the next day every evening, and put your pad of paper inside the pocket of the next day's clothing. Store essential items, like paperwork, car keys and purse or wallet in the same place every time.

Simplify your life by reducing the amount of things you need to accomplish every day. Take on one simple task at a time. Taking too much on at once is difficult to track and prioritize when someone has short-term memory loss. Increase the task load as you become confident and familiar in your routine.

Keep clocks and calendars visible througout the house so you can regularly check the date and time. Wear a watch with a function that tellsl the date. This lets you check the day and time frequently.
