How to Repair a Dawn Simulator
A dawn simulator wakes you gradually and gently by slowly increasing the amount of light in the room, as if you were waking to a natural sunrise. Waking to gradual light, rather than to an abrupt light or loud alarm, can help you feel refreshed in the morning. Dawn simulators also are used to treat seasonal affective disorder (SAD) because they help to alleviate the lethargy, difficulty waking and depression that SAD sufferers experience in winter months due to fewer daylight hours. If your dawn simulator does not work as it should, try various troubleshooting measures to address the issue.Things You'll Need
- Light bulb (optional)

1
Check that the local time is set to a.m. rather than p.m. Also verify that the “dawn” time is set 30 to 60 minutes before you wish to wake so that the device's light reaches full brightness at the appropriate time.
-
2
Verify that the lamp is switched to “on” and that the light bulb works. If the bulb is burned out, replace it.
-
3
Check whether or not you use the correct voltage and bulb wattage for your particular dawn simulator. See your device's user's manual for specific instructions regarding voltage and wattage.
-
4
Unplug the device if it malfunctions following a power outage. Wait a few minutes, and then plug the device back into the power source. You may need to reprogram your custom settings.
-
5
Send the dawn simulator to its manufacturer for service if the problem is severe or persists. Check the user's manual for warranty and service information.
