Games for Getting a Photographic Memory
-
Puzzle Games
-
Complete a crossword or Sudoku puzzle. These challenging games help develop and use new neural pathways in the brain. Puzzle games can also help improve vocabulary and critical thinking skills. Developing a photographic memory requires brain exercises just like developing any other muscles require physical exercise. Any puzzle game that is unfamiliar and new can be an effective brain exercise.
Memory Game
-
Play the classic card game Memory, which involves a deck of paired picture cards. Placing all of the cards face down, turn two cards over at a time. If they match, leave the two cards face up. If they do not match, turn the cards back over and try again. The game tests your ability to remember specific locations of cards. As you play, you will learn methods to remember where each picture card is located.
Picture Puzzle
-
Complete a "picture puzzle," where you compare two similar pictures to find the differences. Two images will be displayed: one original and one altered. Try to find the differences in the altered picture after committing the first picture to memory. These pictures will challenge your ability to remember small details in a visual image. These type of puzzles are available online and in newspapers or magazines. There are also books filled with comparison images of varying difficulties that can be purchased.
Considerations
-
Sleep is an important component of memory -- it's necessary for memory consolidation. Photographic memory requires a brain operating at full capacity. A sleep-deprived brain is not optimal. Physical exercise can also improve your memory by increasing oxygen to your brain. Diet can affect memory as well. Eat more fruits and vegetables and limit your saturated fats. Omega-3 fatty acids, found in fatty fish, are beneficial for brain health.
