1
Choose a time to draw through your grief when you can be alone and uninterrupted. You may feel powerful emotions while completing artwork.
-
2
Sit quietly and meditate for a few minutes. This will help you connect with
emotions that you have probably been trying to ignore. Visualize your predominant emotion.
-
3
Draw out the emotion you visualized, whether it is grief or some component of grief such as anger. Using whatever medium you want, draw a visual depiction of the emotion.
-
4
Look at the image when you are done. Do not judge it; just examine it closely to find any hidden meanings. When we are using our creative process, we are not consciously thinking, but our subconscious is always working and helping us heal from the grief.
-
5
Repeat the drawing process as often as you want. Drawing through grief can be soothing and help to calm anxiety. You can draw other scenarios as well such as your life without your loved one or a memory of your loved one. Be as creative as you want. The drawing is not for anyone else but only meant to help you heal. It does not have to be understandable.
