How to Answer a Personality Test

Personality tests are given to children as part of a battery of aptitude tests to determine school placement. The tests are also given to adults for various reasons. Whether you are taking the test for school, for a job or to help diagnose a mental illness, remember to be yourself. Answer each question accurately, succinctly and concretely.

Prepare for your test. There's no way to study for a personality test, but review online personality tests to see what kind of questions to expect. This helps ease your anxiety by allowing you to think about what some of your answers may be ahead of time.

Sleep. A good night's sleep is the best way to prepare for any kind of stressful day. Get to bed early the night before your scheduled personality test and wake up with enough time to get ready and to the testing site. Make sure you eat a good breakfast, as this energizes you and keeps your mind focused.

Answer the questions to the test as they are asked. Don't hesitate on an answer, as this may skew your scores as much as an oddball answer. Unless you're asked to elaborate on an answer, keep your answers short and sweet.
