How to Promote Autism Awareness
Autism is a developmental disorder that affects the brain's development of social and communication skills in children and adults from all walks of life. There is no known cause or cure for autism. Autism affects not only those who have the disease, but their families and friends as well. Increasing autism awareness is a positive way of informing the public of the conditions surrounding autism and the need for research of the disease and understanding of people who are affected by it.Instructions

Join the Autism Society. The Autism Society is a group of people who are affected by autism and work to increase awareness in local communities. The Autism Society works to increase awareness of the daily issues people with autism and their families face, as well as to advocate for appropriate services for those who suffer from the disease. By joining or starting a local chapter of the Autism Society, you can help increase awareness where you live.

2
Hold a fundraiser. You may hold a fundraiser to help raise awareness for autism by selling baked goods or autism awareness-related product such as T-shirts. It should be made known that the proceeds will be donated autism issues, such as a charity for people who suffer from autism or an autism research foundation. By picking a high-traffic location in your community to hold the fundraiser, you can increase the number of people you contact and inform about the disease.

Take part in an autism walk event. Walk Now for Autism Speaks hosts walk events across the country. Even though the walk may not be in your own community, by asking community members to sponsor you and informing them of the walk event, you can raise awareness where you live even if you have to travel to participate in the walk event. Asking well-known community members to take part in the walk with you, such as a mayor or local business owner, will give your efforts a higher profile and raise more awareness for autism.
