Where to Take an English IQ Test

An English IQ Test is generally identified as a Stanford Binet test, a test that measures your mental capabilities against other people your age. The test assesses mental capacity or defines the extent of a mental disability. A high score can get you into some prestigious groups or organizations.

English IQ Test Scoring

• Your score on an IQ test reveals your mental capabilities at the time, not your emotional intelligence or how you might perform on future tests.

  A score below 70 is indicative of mental retardation or the existence of a mental disability. Scores between 90 and 109 are considered average intelligence. People who score above 130 are considered "gifted."

IQTest.com

• You can take IQ tests at IQTest.com, where they are designed by doctoral graduates and examine 13 different areas associated with intelligence. The goal of the tests is to identify your mental weaknesses and strengths.

International High IQ Society

• The International High IQ Society offers IQ testing online. Each test has 36 multiple-choice questions and the tests are timed. Questions are randomized and drawn from a pool to ensure test originality. The pool size allows for billions of test combinations and possibilities. Time remaining on each question answered is calculated into the algorithm used to score the test upon completion, so completing the test quickly is recommended. If you score within the top 5 percent of the population, you can become a member of the International High IQ Society.

American Mensa

• American Mensa is a prestigious organization for individuals with impressive IQ scores. To enter the group, you must possess an IQ of 132 or higher. The organization also accepts test scores from other sources, such as school settings or private psychologists. American Mensa also offers testing for people interested in the organization. Mensa charges $40 for the test. You must be an American resident to join the chapter.

Other IQ Testing

• High school officials may offer IQ testing to students along with other tests, such as SATs and PSATs, in preparation for college. Private psychologists also offer IQ testing to determine the level of intelligence that a patient has in order to advise appropriate psychological treatment. Speak with a representative at school or contact a psychologist to find out if IQ testing is available.
