Change your ways. You can talk until the sun goes down, but if you keep acting in the same way that earned you that bad reputation, then nothing will change that impression. Make sure that those who matter see the change in behavior too. You can't sit home and be changed and expect others to forget.

Think about yourself in a different light. It's surprising how much we wear our feelings on our sleeves for others to see. If you feel bad about yourself, then others will pick up on that and continue their beliefs about you. Feel good and the world smiles with you.

Dress differently. The clothes we wear define so much of our persona. If you wear leather and studs and have a bad reputation as a rebel, try switching to khakis and collared shirts and you will be amazed at how you can bounce back quickly from a bad reputation.

Let others see you in a different setting than they are accustomed to. If you always hang out with the dropouts or skateboarders and you want to change that reputation, then join a book club or the football team. If you have bad reputation as being promiscuous, go to a church where those people whose minds you want to change will see you.
