Admit the fear. Admitting that one has a fear is a major step in the recovery from the fear. Admitting the fear may be the hardest step for most people.

    • 2

Seek professional help. It is very difficult to overcome a fear alone. Professional help can include psychologist, psychiatrists, medical doctors, or counselors. Most insurance plans have mental health coverage, so you should check with your insurance to see what they offer.

Talk with the professional. Be open and honest with your feelings. Holding back information can hinder your recovery. The information you provide to the professional will be held in strict confidentiality.

    • 4

Complete the treatment plan the doctor provides for you. Always do what the doctor says. You may have medications to take, journal writing exercises or other therapy plans the doctor may offer.

    • 5

Work at overcoming the fear on a daily basis. Consistency is very important. If you do not constantly work on eliminating the fear, you may not overcome it.

    • 6

Think positive. Where there is a will, there is a way.
