How to Hypnotize Someone Into Falling Asleep
Hypnosis is a state of mind, but not an automatic function that turns subjects into mindless captives. Becoming" hypnotized" involves following directions and concentrating intently on a particular thought or string of thoughts. Hypnotists use six steps in bringing about an induction to sleep, or a slight variation of these steps. Because each person is different, the hypnotist makes an effort to learn the subject's personality before attempting an induction.Things You'll Need

1
Create a relaxed atmosphere. Dim the lights in the room and get rid of any distractions in the way of noise or appearance. Light scented candles for the session. Ready a bed or sofa for the subject’s comfort.
-
2
Focus on making your subject feel relaxed. Ask the person to sit or lie down. Make sure the subject is comfortable. Always speak in a soft and calm voice.
-
3
Instruct the subject’s body to release tension. Whatever you suggest to your subject will be felt, especially if you are suggesting inaction over action. Tell the person to close his eyes and breathe in deeply through his nose, and out deeply through his mouth.
-
4
Build rapport with the subject. Repeat positive encouragement and commendation; keep commands simple and friendly. A subject must trust the hypnotist before desiring to obey her commands.
-
5
Use the power of suggestion to create mental, physical and visual stimuli. Suggest strong feelings of relaxation, sleepiness and lethargy. Read from a script unless you are experienced at creating visualization exercises.
-
6
Guide the subject to a “happy place,” that is, a visualized place of complete safety, rest and tranquility. Describe this place in detail; mention the peaceful sensations your subject is experiencing and what reaction these sensations are causing within the body. When you sense that the person is near sleep, gently command him to fall asleep.
