1
Admit that you're beat. Everyone knows that the first step is admitting that you have a problem. Even this isn't quite enough. You must admit to yourself that Internet gambling is controlling your life.
-
2
Seek help and treatment. Internet gambling addiction isn't a problem you can handle on your own. The 12-step program Gambling Anonymous exists to help people like you. Numerous psychologists, psychiatrists and therapists specialize in helping people addicted to Internet gambling. Find a support group and therapist in your area.
-
3
Get others involved. Your gambling problem isn't the secret you think that it is. Humbly confess the problem to your loved ones. Chances are they won't be surprised. They'll probably also be more than willing to help.
-
4
Block Internet gambling sites. Many programs exist specifically to filter out online casinos. Install one on your computer. Give the password to a trusted loved one. You will not be able to access any online gambling sites.
-
5
Relinquish control of common finances. If you share a bank account with a partner, he or she should be in charge of it. You cannot be trusted to handle common finances until you are better.
