Wild mood swings have been called various things over the years. In the past, it was called manic-depressive disorder and has also been simply called manic disorder. Over the past decades, the disorder underlying most wild mood swings has been called bipolar disorder.-

Other aspects of self help include learning as much as you can about your mood swings and mood disorder and seeking help when you feel out of control. Keeping stress in check can help greatly with mood disorders. Healthy habits in diet, exercise and sleep are also very helpful in managing wild mood swings.
