1
Look up the names of several treatment centers in the phone book or get referrals from your physician or therapist. Searching online is another great way to get more thorough information about treatment plans, patient experiences and a center's facilities, before calling.
-
2
Call each treatment center to check on their visiting hours or to schedule an appointment. Most centers will either have set visiting hours or will allow you to make an appointment to visit the center in order to view the facility. Write down your appointment times or each center's visiting hours, so that you don't forget. Try to schedule your appointments within the same week and plan your visits to centers that have set visiting hours around your appointments.
-
3
Visit each center. During your visit, ask each center about their policies, how long the average length of stay is, if they have outpatient and inpatient programs available and find out as much as you can about the attrition rate and the various programs available. You may also want to see if you can sit in on at least one meeting at each center, to better help you make your final decision regarding which center is best for you.
