What does it mean when you hit your head then start to vomit?
When you hit your head, it can cause a concussion, which is a traumatic brain injury (TBI). One of the common symptoms of a concussion is vomiting. Vomiting after a head injury can be a sign of increased intracranial pressure (ICP), which is a serious condition that can lead to brain damage. Other symptoms of increased ICP include:
* Headache
* Confusion
* Drowsiness
* Seizures
* Vision changes
* Weakness on one side of the body
If you experience any of these symptoms after a head injury, it is important to seek medical attention immediately.
In addition to increased ICP, vomiting after a head injury can also be caused by:
* Nausea
* Dizziness
* Vertigo
* Motion sickness
* Anxiety
* Stress
If you are experiencing vomiting after a head injury, it is important to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids. You should also avoid alcohol and caffeine, as these can worsen nausea and vomiting. If your vomiting does not improve within 24 hours, you should see a doctor.
