Take a piece of paper and pencil and write down a list of your positive qualities and what you like about yourself. Write in stream of consciousness style. Try not to pause. Write down whatever you think you excel at. For a majority of our waking live's we get so caught up in the negative aspects of ourselves. For this exercise only focus on the positive.

2
Using that same piece of paper or another piece if you ran out of space, write down periods during the day or week that you felt really happy and centered. Try to recall what happened during the day that made you feel really good. Whether it was playing guitar or helping an elderly person cross the street, record these events.

3
Ask your family and friends what they think your strongest qualities are and what they like the best about you. You do not have to worry about criticism and they are most likely the closest people you have in your life, so it should be good to hear positivity about you and what you have to offer to the world.

Analyze your thoughts. Get into a habit of practicing meditation. Meditation help is listed in the resource section. When you meditate you will be able to listen to what your urges and desires are. After a while the distracting and bothersome thoughts will disappear and you will be able to listen to what your true calling is.

5
Review what you have written down, the feedback you have received and what you have been thinking. Chances are that there will be similarities that are shared between them all. Try to group these feelings, ideas, and skills, into a few groups. You should be able to see some possible career choices, or activities you can even do during the week or on the weekend. The next step is up to you to decide.
