Schizophrenia is a severe mental illness that affects the way a person feels, behaves, perceives reality and interacts with others. People with schizophrenia typically have trouble interacting in the world around them and functioning at school or work. Symptoms typically appear between the ages of 15 and 35, although it does sometimes manifest in younger children. Schizophrenia symptoms are different in children than in adults.-
