How to Deal With Bridal Stress

While planning a wedding, the bride to be often feels overwhelmed by personal and social expectations to host the perfect event. Weddings become more stressful when your ideas do not mesh with your parents' expectations or you worry about how feuding friends will behave at the reception. These concerns and wedding planning can overtake your life, making you unable to relax. In order to control wedding planning stress, admit you cannot control all aspects of the planning yourself and take some time to pamper yourself and de-stress.

Instructions

    • 1

Discuss your ideas rationally with your parents. If they are paying for even part of the wedding, listen to their planning suggestions and realize they do have some input in the big day. State the items most important you, such as where the reception is held, members of the bridal party, and the photographer. Suggest other ideas you'd be willing to compromise on to save money such as the type of flowers you use or style and flavors of wedding cake.

    • 2

Ask for help. Recruit the bridal party to help you assemble favors or stuff invitations so that you and your fiance do not have do it by yourselves. Ask your mother to meet the florist to discuss the last-minute details if you have to work late and cannot reschedule the meeting.

    • 3

Be honest with your guests and tell them that you refuse to mediate between their squabbles on your wedding day. Prevent conflict if possible by seating feuding friends at tables on opposite ends of the ballroom. Remind them you expect the two of them to speak civilly if they run into each other at the event.

    • 4

Take some time off from planning the wedding when you start becoming stressed about every little detail. Spend a few days of quality time with your fiance going on movie dates, snuggling on the couch and remembering why you're madly in love and getting married.

    • 5

Picture a quiet spot, such as a beach honeymoon resort, with just the two of you. Visualize yourselves sipping frozen drinks while laying out on the beach, far away from people, cellphones and interruptions.

    • 6

Get pampered to ease your stress. Soak in a whirlpool tub to relax your muscles and treat yourself to a massage. Consider trying a Thai massage in which the massage therapist presses tea bags infused with turmeric into your tired aching muscles.
