How to Stay Committed to a Goal

Success is not measured by the money in your bank or the car you drive. Success can be measured by setting goals and achieving them. People are successful in many areas of their lives depending on what goals they set and accomplish. Setting goals can be easy, but achieving them can be very difficult. You must stay committed to a goal in order to be successful.

Instructions

    • 1

Motivate yourself by writing down words of affirmation, and repeat them to yourself whenever you can. Motivation is the only thing that will allow you to succeed and stay committed to your goals.

    • 2

Brainstorm ideas on how you will accomplish your goal. Narrow your ideas down into a list and break them into smaller tasks. Set a routine for these smaller goals. Smaller tasks are easier to achieve than the overall goal.

    • 3

Accomplish the hardest tasks first in achieving your goal. After you break your goal into smaller tasks, choose to do the most difficult first. When you complete the small tasks, you will feel more motivated and committed to your goal.

    • 4

Journal or blog about your progress. Sharing your goal with someone or even just writing your thoughts will hold you accountable for staying committed to goals.

    • 5

Reward yourself each time you accomplish a small task. Treat yourself to something big when you see your goal through to the end. A reward will keep your attention focused on the goal.
