Take several deep breaths before making a phone call if you are feeling nervous. This will help you relax and may reduce your insecurities about talking on the phone. You can try this before answering the phone as well to give you a moment to calm down.

Rehearse what you want to say out loud before calling someone. You can even take a few notes if you like so that you won't be caught off-guard in case you forget what you wanted to say.

Practice talking on the phone with someone you are comfortable with. This could be a family member or close friend. When you get used to talking to people you know on the phone, you may become less worried about talking to a stranger.

Push yourself out of your comfort zone a bit over time, and make a call to someone you don't know well. Don't allow yourself too much time to worry about the call before making it, as this might make you more nervous.
