Adult daycare provides care to persons with disabilities, giving their usual caregivers a much-needed break. Many types of enjoyable games will keep adults engaged while in daycare. Most adult daycare facilities provide their clients both individual and interactive games, such as card games, board games and games of strategy.

  1. Card Games

    • Games such as Spades, Hearts and Bridge are games that require players to work together or employ strategy in order to win. Spades involves gathering the most matching suits, by playing cards higher than opponents' cards. Hearts requires team members to remember their cards to get rid of trick-heart cards. Bridge is a group game that requires cooperation and communication with team members.

    • Dominoes provides a way to stimulate analytical thinking for persons in adult daycare. Dominoes offers players options such as block domino games, point domino games and card domino games. The ancient Chinese game of Mahjong requires logic and memory skills in order to win. Solitaire is a simple game of strategy that can be played via computer or on the game table.

    Board Games

    • Chess and checkers are popular games and likely to be familiar to those in adult daycare. Chess is a game that requires players to remember the moves of different game pieces. Checkers, while simpler than chess, also requires a player to concentrate and think ahead to gather an opponent's game pieces. Chinese checkers is played by up to six players, and the person who retains all of his game marbles within the designated triangle is the winner.

    Word and Puzzle Games

    • Word and puzzle games, while not high-strategy games, do help to keep the brain active. Crossword puzzles or puzzle books can keep a daycare client engaged for hours. Word-search puzzles, hangman games, and sudoku games are possible alternatives. Puzzles that require visualization and logic skills, like jigsaw puzzles, can be played as either a community or individual project. Many word games and puzzles are also available via the Internet.
