How to Find Focus in Life

When you're able to narrow down your passions and pursuits in order to find your life's true purpose, you can determine where to focus your energy. Luckily, there are resources available that will help you along this path of self-discovery. Once you put some time and thought into yourself and your life, you'll know that each step you take is in the right direction.

Instructions

    • 1

Sit calmly in a quiet place and breathe deeply. Breathe in, counting for 4 seconds and breathe out for 5 seconds, slowly. To create a calming area, put on slow, soothing music and turn down the lights. This will let you clear your head and focus.

    • 2

Tune in to what stirs you. Take note of the things that you feel emotional or passionate about. These things -- whether it has to do with family, the arts or helping others -- will point you in the right direction.

    • 3

Write down the things that are most meaningful to you in life. Review them on a regular basis, even daily if you're able to. It would be best to look over what you write at the start of each day. Keep a journal and consistently add to it as you expand your interests or deepen your love for your current interests.

    • 4

Make a list of your goals, and write down the steps you plan to take in order to reach each goal or to pursue each interest. It's not enough to just write down your first step; you also have to include your second and third steps.

    • 5

Refer back to the things you love and are passionate about when you're facing challenges in your life. Reconnecting with the things that make you feel like yourself and inspire you will help you to navigate through difficult times.
