How to Become Refreshed Without Sleeping
Everyone has experienced a time in their life where they were not able to get an adequate amount of sleep for one reason or another. There are many seasons of life where sleep is not always a priority, such as your college years or being a new parent. Sometimes there is just not enough hours in the day to get every thing done and get a good night's rest. Missing sleep regularly can make you sick and should be avoided. Keep it cool. The last thing you want to do when you are tired is get warm and cozy; this will cause you to fall asleep. Keeping the air conditioner on will make you feel much more alert and refreshed. Also, make it a point to drink ice water often. Cool caffeine drinks are also acceptable in small amounts.but try not to have too much caffeine or sugar because your energy level and blood sugar will drop after a few hoursm causing you to feel worse. You can also rinse your face with cool water periodically.

Eat small amounts. Eating small amounts of healthy food will help refresh you. Fruit and nuts are a good choice because they are nutritious and will energize you. Avoid big, heavy meals as they will make you tired. Try to stick to low carb meals to keep you going. Chewing gum after your snack or small meal will also help keep you alert.

Get up and move. When you are tired you want to sit around which is the exact opposite of what you should be doing. If you take a short walk, do some stretches or a few jumping jacks.You will feel less tired.

Keep it bright. When it is dark yout body thinks it is time to go to sleep. Turn on lots of lights, which will trick your body into waking up and feeling better. Going outside whether it is day or night for some fresh air; this will help rejuvenate you. You get double the benefits if it is daytime.

Take a break. You are probably staying up because you have something you have to get something done. Taking a little break will help you in the long run. Turn up some energizing music to get yourself in a positive mood. Relax and talk to a friend in person or on the phone for a few minutes. Having a good time for a few minutes will refresh you quicker than anything else.
