1
Select two scents to aid in your relaxation. Popular scents include lavender, chamomile, ylang ylang and sandalwood. All of these go well together. Try sniffing different scents at your local health food or herbal store until you find two that you enjoy together.
-
2
Purchase one of your scents in essential oil form and purchase the other in the form of three scented candles. You can usually find these products at health food stores or herbal shops.
-
3
Purchase a relaxing CD from your music store or online. Relaxing sounds include soft jazz, classical, mediation music or sounds from nature like rainstorms or ocean waves.
-
4
If you bought music online, prepare to listen from your computer or mp3 player. If you are using a CD player, plug it at least three feet from your bathtub to prevent electrical hazards or water damage to your player. Put your new CD in the player.
-
5
Fill your bathtub with hot water and drop in eight drops of essential oil, then let the water cool a few minutes and infuse with oil. Light your candles and place them around your bathroom near the tub, keeping them out of the way of shower curtains, bathroom tissue or any fire hazards.
-
6
Play your music, turn out the lights and get into the tub. Close your eyes and slowly breathe in the scents with deep breaths and focus on the sounds coming from your player. Feel your muscles and body begin to relax as you focus on the soothing scents and sounds.
