Grief Support Groups in Waupaca, WI

Grief support groups and seminars can help you work through your grief in a healthy manner and regain some manner of normality in your everyday life --- many of these groups are available in and around the town of Waupaca, Wisconsin. Waupaca is in Waupaca County, located in the middle of Wisconsin, about two and a half hours away from Milwaukee and about two hours away from Madison, the state capital.

    • Although many grief support groups are ongoing at a fixed location, some are only offered at certain times and at certain places. Numerous organizations offer these services including churches, hospitals, hospices, community colleges and community organizations. For example, Remembering Through Sharing is a grief support group based in Appleton, Wisconsin, which is approximately 45 minutes southeast of Waupaca. This group is specifically for parents grieving over infants lost to miscarriage, stillbirth and ectopic pregnancies and organizes numerous events on an ongoing basis for its members. Admission is free but dates and times vary. Similarly, The Compassionate Friends, a national organization that offers support for parents and grandparents who are grieving the death of a child, has a chapter in Oneida, Wisconsin, that offers a grief support group. Oneida is about 45 minutes east of Waupaca. These meetings take place the second Tuesday of the month and are free of charge.

    Grief Support Groups for Children and Teens

Camp Hope for Kids, for example, is a weekend camp specifically for grieving children and teenagers. This camp is in Rosholt, Wisconsin, north of Waupaca and about 40 minutes away; camp sessions are held twice a year, once in May and once in October. There is no cost for children wishing to attend the camp. Additionally, The Boys and Girls Club of the Fox Valley in Appleton provides grief support services and groups specifically for teenagers through a free of charge drop-in service at the Fox Valley site.
