  1. Where to Find Free Anger Management Courses

    • There often are free anger management classes offered in larger communities and cities, usually out of a community center. These are for groups of people and function much like a support group. There also are a number of free anger management courses that are offered online and taken as a self-paced course.

    Initial Steps

    • The initial steps in any anger management program is to admit that you have a problem. It is not necessary to delve into the reasons why you have a problem at this point or what needs to be done to fix it. The counselors who are there to help you will guide you along this path.

    Techniques Taught

    • Free anger management classes teach techniques for controlling anger as well as how to communicate when you are feeling angry. Role playing is a well-used technique for learning how you respond and how you should respond to anger-provoking situations. Relaxation techniques, including deep breathing and muscle relaxation, are taught in order to help control your anger and allow for an overall calm feeling.

    Assertiveness Training

    • Many free anger management courses offer assertiveness training either in conjunction with or in addition to the anger management portion. Assertiveness training teaches one how to communicate calmly, while still speaking up about what they want or need. The goal of anger management is to learn how to control your anger yet still communicate in a calmer and more effective way.
