Principles of a Positive Attitude

The stresses of life can be overwhelming at times. It is a well-known fact, however, that while many problems originate from circumstances beyond your control, how you react to them is within your control.

Taking a positive attitude is perhaps the best approach for dealing with those problems. This is not to say that you take a "whatever will be ... will be" approach. Instead, the goal is to not let problems dominate you into paralysis. In other words, you take a positive attitude because it is your choice.
  1. Life is Full of Opportunities

    • There is no one key to life, but rather many keys.

If your circumstances lock you down, it is time to look at other options. Bad credit, bad job, bad relationships, bad health may control what you do with your life, and how you do it, but you always have a future and you base that future on the kind of life you want to have. True, some problems are inescapable, but that does not mean that all of them are.

The find your available opportunities answer the question, "what do you want your life to be like 10 years from now?" When you answer that question you begin to see what life changes you have to make it order to reach that life...your life.

There is no one key to life, but rather many keys. Some will unlock your future others will not.

    Life is Enjoyable

    • Life is full of wonders . . . experience them.

Think of the countless ways that you can enjoy your life today. Think of the limited number of ways to enjoy life 50 or 100 years ago. There are numerous experiences that are available. Food, entertainment, people, nature, and material things are some of today's offerings. There are many ways to access your life's feelings by looking outside of yourself.

The constant drumbeat of problems can be muted if not silenced by enjoying the world around you. If you do not have new experiences, get them because you are missing out on the wonders of life.

    Choose the Present

    • Positive attitudes come by acknowledging the people, places and things in life.

You can begin taking a positive attitude by acknowledging that your circumstance--your history--has made you who you are. You are here. You do not have to wait a long time to make changes; get new experiences now. Your life is the present. Your opportunities are in the present. Even your future is in the present. Your current life has meaning because of who you are and what you have done.
