Goal-making and Visualization
-
1
Make a list of positive goals for improving your quality of life, both short-term and long-term. Visualize the outcome you want.
-
2
Remind yourself to live for today, not tomorrow. Relinquish control of tomorrow and what comes after.
-
3
Take a few minutes each morning to simply sit quietly, focus, breathe and visualize a tranquil and positive day
-
4
If you're overcoming a loss, allow yourself time to grieve, to go through the necessary stages. You can't rush healing--it's something that occurs over time.
-
5
Remind yourself that your time of crisis is offering you the ability to grow, and that you are strong enough to meet any challenge.
Taking Action Day by Day
-
6
Create a new and positive routine, incorporating small changes that will give you a balanced and realistic daily structure in which to meet challenges and find strength.
-
7
Be good to yourself physically. Get plenty of rest, schedule regular exercise and provide yourself with small daily comforts, such as a warm blanket, a hot cup of tea or coffee or your favorite healthy foods.
-
8
Get out into nature, wherever you are. Nature will give you a sense of connection to the larger world around you, and remind you of the bigger picture.
-
9
Continue to pursue your favorite hobbies on a regular basis, as well as your favorite leisure activities, all of which offer important and life-affirming escape from your daily stresses or troubles. Read, watch movies, relax, work in your garden--stay connected to the things you love.
-
10
Keep in touch with your family and friends. You'll find more inner strength by drawing on the strength of those who love you--don't withdraw from them.
