1
Talk to someone. Discuss whatever is causing you stress or anxiety with a friend or with your spouse. It helps to get your problems off your chest, and they may have suggestions to help.
-
2
Focus on other things. Try not to think about whatever is causing you stress; instead, put your mind on other things, such as thinking about things that make you happy or plans for the future.
-
3
Try different relaxation techniques such as meditation, reading, taking a warm bath or yoga.

4
Exercise and eat a healthy diet. If you eat a lot of sugary foods or drink beverages with caffeine, this can make you feel jittery and worsen your feelings of stress or anxiety.

5
Ask your doctor to refer you to a mental health professional if you are unable to lessen stress and anxiety on your own. You can talk about what is triggering your stress and may be prescribed anxiety medicine.
