How to Slow Down Long Enough To Be Quiet And Thankful

Imagine with me, for a few minutes that you are driving home from work, and your mind is going in so many directions. You are already thinking of what you have to do when you get home. The radio is loud and the traffic is heavy. Vehicles are pulling in front of you. Drivers are honking their horns at other drivers. Stress may be rising and you just want to be quiet. A good idea is to just turn off the world and let there be quiet.

Imagine turning off your vehicle radio. Imagine taking a detour to a park, duck pond, ocean or somewhere where you can just turn the world off for a few moments and be quiet and thankful. Just breathe. Breathe a deep breath. Breathe the fresh quietness in and let all of the stress and noise breathe out. Imagine only hearing the quiet sounds of nature.

Take time to be still. Even in the Bible, it says that God knows that this is an important part of our mental, physical and spiritual wellness.
In Psalm 46:10 He says, "Be still and know that I am God."

Take time to be thankful. This is a way to stay healthy in your thinking and reduces your stress. God tells us in 1 Thessalonians 5:18 "Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus."
