Find something you enjoy and do it. Take part in something like a yoga class, singing class, dance, book club. These are things I do to just refresh and renew myself. If I am bored, I tend to think. It's the human condition to think and become over whelmed with the noise in the head. They are just thoughts but they can become over whelming. Once that happens we become can make ourselves prone to illness. A clear mind is the road to peace and less stress. Once our minds are clear we can see clear and put things into perspective as well.

Remind yourself of how you feel when you are not so attached. No one likes to obsess but we do it because we become used to it, it's natural for us. But once we break away and let go, we are calm and peaceful. if you start thinking about someone too much, remind yourself how nice it is not to be so attached. we can be connected to people without having so hold on so tightly. The wanting, needing and the desire to see someone or talk to them, to reach out to them and get a re-action is natural but not healthy. it is not practical or conducive to a peaceful lifestyle. Focus on you and you would be surprised at what can come your way once you let go and live.
