How to Cope While a Spouse is Away
Being away from a spouse, while relaxing for some, is lonely and depressing for others, especially when they are the ones stuck at home while their spouse is off having a great time without them. Follow these steps to survive while you stay back and hold down the fort while your spouse is away.Instructions

1
Tackle home projects. Now's the time to clean out the garage, install cabinetry hardware or take on small remodeling projects (replacing a sink or toilet, etc.). Keep yourself busy, productive and excited for your spouse to come home to the surprise.

2
See a movie by yourself. You may find you enjoy the independence, and if not, you can say you've done it.

3
Buy all the foods your spouse doesn't like, but you love. Indulge on all those yummy treats you pass up on every other shopping trip. Make this week about doing (and eating) things you love.

4
Plan a romantic night for the day your spouse returns. Make a special recipe, put fresh, clean sheets on the bed, buy candles to create ambiance. This gives you something else to look forward to and keeps you occupied.

5
Book a vacation. Use travel websites like Expedia and Cheap Caribbean to find vacation packages the two of you can use in the future. Planning a vacation to take together makes being alone right now less lonely.

Go away for a weekend. Visit an old friend who you wouldn't normally visit with your spouse in tow. Have a girl's or guy's weekend with your mom or dad and sisters or brothers. Make the best of not having to worry about keeping your spouse entertained or leaving them behind.

Take safety precautions. Leave the porch light on at night, keep the doors locked, and let a couple neighbors know you are by yourself. It's also smart to watch who you inform that your spouse is gone. You don't need this information falling into the wrong person's hands.
