How to Have a Motivational Day

Three reasons people lose motivation are lack of focus, confidence and direction, says Pick The Brain, a website dedicated to self-improvement. Ignore the negative thoughts in your mind so you can regain perspective and learn ways to boost your morale. Every day is a new day, and there are many ways to motivate yourself to get out of your bed and into the world with an abundance of promise. By using visual aides, affirmations and journaling, you can achieve high levels of self-motivation.

Instructions

    • 1

Say affirmations to gain confidence. For example, an affirmation boosting self-esteem is "I am unique, special, creative and wonderful." Repeating this affirmation in the morning before you go to work or school can relax you and put you in a positive mind frame to begin the day.

    • 2

Post inspirational quotes on your bedroom walls or a place where you are likely to see them in the morning. Pick a quote that speaks to your experience and that makes you feel that you can accomplish anything in life. You can find quotes in songs, books, poetry or celebrity interviews or you can create them yourself.

    • 3

Exercise and eat well. Working out will boost your confidence because you are doing something positive to improve your body. Eating fruits and vegetables helps to energize your body, making you feel physically and mentally ready to work. Having the discipline to exercise and eat well creates positive momentum that can inspire you throughout the day.

    • 4

Smile even if you do not feel like it. When you smile, you attract positive energy, which will help to motivate you. If you have trouble mustering up a smile, listen to music with a positive message, such as U2's "Beautiful Day."

    • 5

Write. Blog or keep a journal to track your feelings and accomplishments. When you are feeling down, you can flip through your journal for motivation. You can see how far you have come in a week or even a day.

    • 6

Control your thoughts. If you feel a negative thought coming into your mind, do not immediately push it out because you must embrace your emotions. Take a moment to think about it. Reason with the emotion and then let the negative thought go. Think about the good things in your life and learn to appreciate all of them.
