Social Determinants of How Affect

Social determinants of health affect how and how much we can participate fully in society and are conditions in the environments where we live, learn, work, and play. We can consider the social determinants of health as the upstream causes of disease, which are largely driven by social, economic, and environmental factors.

One of the leading causes of death worldwide is noncommunicable disease, such as cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, and cancer. Although lifestyle behaviors and genetics can play a significant role, social determinants of health also play a role in how health is affected.

* For example, some racial and ethnic minorities are at higher risk of certain chronic diseases, such as cardiovascular disease and cancer. This is due in part to a number of social determinants, such as:

* Lower socioeconomic status: People of lower socioeconomic status are more likely to live in polluted neighborhoods, have less access to healthy food and physical activity, and be exposed to more stress. These factors can all contribute to chronic disease.

* Discrimination: Discrimination can lead to stress, anxiety, and depression, which can all have a negative impact on health. Additionally, discrimination can lead to people having less access to quality health care and other resources that can help them stay healthy.

The social determinants of health are a complex issue, and there is no single solution to address them. However, by working together, we can create healthier communities for everyone.
