How to Not Lose Your Discipline
If you are trying to accomplish a task or otherwise commit to something, you need to be disciplined. This is important because if you do not have discipline you will not accomplish what you set out to accomplish; little hiccups will result in you losing sight of your goal and ultimately not accomplishing it. Take day-to-day steps that will keep you disciplined and committed to the task at hand.Instructions

1
Write a schedule for your day. This will help you stick to your goal because it will make things more concrete. Rather than working on vague, long-term guidelines, a schedule will encourage you to work specific amounts during specific times of the day, which will help you maintain your discipline.

2
Maintain a journal that is devoted to your self-discipline. This is where you will write down whether you stuck to your schedule and how much closer to your goal you are. By having a tangible record of your progress, you will make it harder to fall short because you will be motivated by the fact that you won't want to record "no progress today" in your journal.

3
Set large daily goals to establish how much you are capable of. So, if you want to work on your freelance business in the evenings, try to work for an entire evening. If you can do it once, but can't do it two days in a row, scale it back to just a few hours. Once you reach a level (it may be an hour) that you can maintain every day, stick with that, but increase it by a little bit every week. The process of constantly increasing what you do will keep you from losing your discipline as there will be more at stake.

Associate habits with your routine. If you want to exercise daily, try to incorporate exercise with something you already do. You could do this by doing squats while you brush your teeth, or by parking around the block and walking to your destination in the morning. It is easier to maintain discipline if you impose it on top of structures that are already present.
