Stress Management Assessment Tools

Dealing with stress can be a difficult undertaking. Stress is both debilitating and frustrating, especially when you are trying to get sometime done. Discovering if it is stress that is hindering your life can be a difficult thing if you do not have the proper tools. The assessment of stress is the first step to making your life more manageable.
  1. Recent Incident

    • The best way to know if you are stressed is to look at any major events that have taken place in your life in the past few months. Large-scale, major and emotionally taxing events in your life like the death of a family member, a divorce, or a financial tragedy increase your chances of becoming stressed in some way. Human emotions greatly dictate your stress levels. An emotional turmoil in your life can cause stress to take hold, making all other matters of your life seem much more difficult than they are.

    Lack of Exercise

    • The lack of exercise is one of the key reasons that people feel stressed. Energy in the body goes unused if a person does not have the ability to exert himself physically, causing the body to feel sluggish and apathetic. This can lead to heavy stress and depression. You may have some manner of stress in your life if you have not been exercising very frequently and are feeling apathetic.

    Dependence

    • Using drugs and drinking alcohol regularly can affect your stress levels. Cigarettes and alcohol, the two most common drugs, can cause you to lose a sense of control. Without a sense of control over your body's own requirements you can feel helpless in your endeavors. You will be more susceptible to stress than most people if you drink, do drugs or smokes.
