Main Causes of Daily Stress

More than 19 million Americans suffer from anxiety and stress, according to the American Chronicle. Worry and stress resulting from everyday factors can take a toll on one's physical and mental health, possibly causing high blood pressure and other life-threatening illnesses.
  1. Financial Stress

    • Making ends meet or living paycheck to paycheck can cause daily stress. 92 percent of Americans face anxiety or stress due to finances, and many lose sleep over money concerns, according to "Corporate Wellness" magazine. When it's the norm for Americans to carry multiple credit cards that cannot be paid on time, financial strain likely becomes a burden, according to the magazine.

    Workplace Stress

    • Although stress appears at work from time to time, three-quarters of all employees nationwide describe their jobs as stressful, according to Fairleigh Dickinson University. Stress in the workplace doesn't necessarily constitute a bad thing for some people. On-the-job stress can motivate employees to accomplish a project successfully, and this kind of stress can enhance productivity, according to the university. However, if workplace stress never seems to alleviate, then it can cause health issues.

    Daily Hassles

    • Having too many obligations or social commitments, ensuring that household needs are met while working a full-time job, and not having sufficient time to get things accomplished all constitute daily hassles that can cause stress. Many Americans lead busy lives, especially when managing work, home and extracurricular obligations at the same time.
