If you are looking to challenge your brain, there are many options to stay mentally healthy. Simple brain exercises used daily will keep your brain sharp, and won't take up a large amount of time. There are many options to utilizing specific sections of the brain, including a few featured below.
  1. Problem Solving by Singing

    • When trying to solve a problem, singing out loud to yourself will exercise your right brain. This is a way to keep your brain active in an easy and simple way. The right brain is capable of recognizing patterns, which is why it is easier to rhyme when singing rather than just writing words down. By utilizing the right brain's power, you will become a more efficient problem solver.

    Improve Concentration

    • If you're looking to focus your concentration and increase your attention span, try searching your mind for anything unresolved that's bothering you (no matter how small) and fix them. For example, if you think you lost your library card and it has been bothering you. You'll soon see that once your mind is free of irritation, your concentration will improve drastically.

    Using Your Opposite Hand

    • If you are right-handed, try using your left hand for a day. Brush your teeth with your left hand; turn on the TV with your left hand; even try writing with your opposite hand. By doing this, your brain is developing a new skill, and you will find your other hand will become more useful over time if you keep up this exercise.
