How to Measure Personal Growth
Pablo Picasso once said that "action is the foundational key to all success." In order to experience success in any area of your life, you must first understand what success means to you. Then you must determine the actions you have to take to achieve the results you desire. Sports Psychologist and author Shane Murphy encourages his consultants to construct goals that focus on the required tasks instead of the end result. Focus on the things that are in your control, and you will experience the power to make your dreams come true.Instructions

1
List the tasks that you must complete in order to achieve your personal growth objectives. If your goal is to become physically fit, for example, list the types of foods you must eat, the ones you should avoid, and the exercise plan you believe will help you to achieve the fit body you desire.
-
2
State each action positively. If your personal growth goal is to quit smoking, write down the positive action you will take instead of smoking. When the cravings come, this will be a more powerful motivator to keep you on track.
-
3
Associate a time frame with each of your tasks. Ask yourself when each will be accomplished, or what amount of time is necessary to complete a task. For example, you may decide to eat a healthy breakfast every day for a week to encourage weight loss. The time frame makes it possible to track your progress.

4
Examine each task to determine whether you are able to get regular feedback on your progress. If your personal growth goal is to improve your relationship with your spouse, for example, you won't have any way to check how you are doing. If your goal is to take him out for a date once a week, however, you can easily gauge whether you are on track.

5
Ask yourself if each personal growth goal you've set is a challenging one. If you set the bar too low, you will never achieve big successes. Your dreams must be big enough to motivate you to chase after them.
